Company objective & values
Company role
The company produces business stationery, logo design and adverting copy for local business. It is run by 2 directors and has 15 staff. It also produces exhibition displays and company brochures and leaflets.
Key skills & competences
  • Design staff have to be computer literate with a flair for design, good communication skills and a strong teamwork ethic
  • Office staff have to have good numeracy skills for accounting and providing estimates, Computer skills for administration and communication skills for dealing with enquiries
  • Sales staff have to be able to identify opportunities to develop work with existing customers as well as sales and communication skills for working with new customers.
  • Print finishing staff have to be technically competent to work with printed items and have a knowledge of problem solving and quality control.

Strong Mathematics & Numeracy Extremely important in calculating print sizes, accounts and administration
Useful Science Understanding required of printing systems and chemicals used in printing
Strong Design & Technology The company is based upon the design of it's products
Strong ICT Every machine used in the company is computer based.

  • Explain the need for craftsmanship in ensuring that the finished product meets the customer's expectations.
  • Discuss the impact of clear communication and accurate mathematics in the planning, design and manufacturing process.
  • Explain how technical expertise manifests itself in the final product.
How could it be made interesting and appropriate?
  • In the past the company has been involved in primary school visit to local companies and have produced books that could be used as keep sakes and portfolio items
  • Examples of leaflets could be taken into school to show the variety of Cheshire companies involved with Technoprint and the depth of information available.
  • Examples of bad communication can be discussed and the impact on the finished product can be used to show how time and product can be wasted.

  • The company would prefer to visit the school
  • There are no restrictions on any schools within Winsford.
